New to bullet casting so I have a question on sizing. Is this bullet shot "as cast" since it has the raised stop ring in the middle? Just slugged the barrel on my beautiful german schuetzen rifle. It miced .318 at the bore. My brother was shooting 32-165 winchester bullets with 13 grains of 4227. Any help appreciated. Thanks John:loveboolits

It sounds like a "DD" style bullet. I'm not joining Facebook just to view a picture. but "DD" bullets have a ring groove cut into the bullet so it seats hard into the rifling, centering the bullet as it is chambered.

This is an old German design for handloading the old target rifles. They would decap, recap, add powder then insert the lubed boolit into the case neck and chamber. The "stop ring would stop the boolit from going any farther into the case. Lyman also produced these. I believe a fellow named Young (or something like that) did the 311255 or 311257 (can't tell from the illustrations either on castpics)(its in the first edition Lyman cast bullet handbook)with a stop ring as I have one and does as advertised.
