I think I'm going to get one of those CZ 527 mini mausers in 223.
Has anyone ever tried WC820 in the 223? I also have a jug of 680. I just bought 2000 rounds of range brass so I guess I should get the gun to go with it.
Looking at Quickload it seems that I should be able to get in the 3000 fps range which is probably way more that I want with a cast boolit anyway.

thoughts?

It seems that the 223 case size is a little strange for cast because of getting the proper ignition using the more common boolits. Opt for the 222 with its 14 twist if still available. It is very easy to make QUALITY 222 cases from the 223 military, if your chamber neck is a little tight and you turn your case necks to match. Use a power tool to trim back your cases after intitial full length size. If cases are that tight, and hopefully they are, you would only need 50 cases total. I have a couple of 50 count batches having over a 100 reloads, and others over 50. You will learn that a case brand becomes nothing but nomenclature. Each batch shoots a little different in the BR gun, using the same load. Now, if you don't want to do this, then consider the 22-250. It shoots very well indeed with cast, given the current crop of powders and primers. Personally, I feel military powders are too dirty for the 22 bore, and will limit the number of shots per barrel clean (brush only). ... felix

The Accurate manual shows several loads for the .223 with AA 1680, aka WC 680, but only up to 50gr bullets.
WC 820 should do ok with cast bullet, too.
