I did finish it a little early but here we have a renegade stock stripped and refinshed with formby's tung oil (low satin)
The barrel t/c custom 31" 54 cal. round ball barrel 1 in 66 twist no QLA
The tang glassed and 2" into the barrel channel, the rest of the barrel full free floated
hope she shoots as good as she looks, fiber optic for old eyes

I have one very similar to that, except my barrel is a Green Mountain 32"; with an L&R replacement lock and Davis target triggers. Since the stock is the only major part on my rifle that is still T/C, I suppose one of these days I really should replace it, too...

It looks great!,,,I have used the same stuff,,just let it sit for a while and rub it well with clean terrycloth once every few days, the shine will "lower" and smooth out with some time on it. I don;t wax mine, the finish is a good protector! In about six months apply a light coat again and do the same thing.Sooner than you think that stock is going to look top shelf!

Never could understand why they have to stain walnut. One advantage of untained walnut is that you can fix some little problem later and just reoil it.

Good looking rifles. Renegades are accurate too. I don't think I ever saw one that wouldn't shoot good.

Don't want to Hi Jack the tread but Nicholst55 mentioned a Green Mountain Barrel. I was at their Website and looked at replacement barrels for the Renegade. The biggest they went was 58 cal. for round ball. I'd really like a .62. Does anyone else make a replacement .62 cal.?
