Does anyone have this mold? It is listed in the Lyman Cast Boolit Handbook 3rd ed under the 44WCF. The one I have cast 236gr out of my ww alloy where the Lyman book list 220gr, seems a little heavy for the 44WCF. This is a gc design without a crimp groove. Where do you crimp and why the gc? The 44WCF seems slow enough to not need the gc unless you are reproduceing the high speed loads ment for the Win 1892.

I have a DC that I Hp'd one cavity on. Weights are 242 for the solid and 226.4 for the HP.

May have been for the .44-40 rifles and higher speeds. At one time, the .44-40 was supposedly a pretty popular eastern deer rifle.

Darned if I know where you crimp it. In the .44 Mag and .44 Special, I slightly roll crimp into the ogive in front of the lube groove but I know the .44-40 cases won't take that abuse./beagle
