Took my experimental Reloader 7 and cast, along with Black Powder today.
Using my 20in 45-70 Handi, He are my range findings.
None of these loads had any pressure or FPS symptoms or indicators.
I load all my boolits to 2.600, which will not fit in a lever gun. (2.525 OAL)
Used CCI LR Magnum primers
First off, the big bad 565 FN: (got these in a trade, didnt make them)
32 gr Reloader 7, at 1340-1350fps
Veggie wad between powder and boolit
They shot about 2 inches low of the ones below at 100 yards. (rifle is sighted with the lighter ones)
I used a pallet held vertical with a 1 inch metal tube (maybe 10-12gauge steel)
One round when through the 2x4 with wise, and blew the metal pipe in half.
This was a ear to ear grin shot.:bigsmyl2:
Next I shot at a 10 inch dia, wet cedar log It was about 14 inchs long.
The 565 freight train when clean through and out the back side, with a 1/2 inch channel all the way though.
Next I shot 385 Lyman RN cast with water dropped wheel weights, They all weighed between 390-395 grains. These are plain base.
Lube a sticky 50% bees wax, 40% lard, 10% veggie oil
Using 40 gr Reloader 7 at 1650-1670fps
Veggie wad and dacron pillow filler (it didnt melt at all)
Using 53gr Pyrodex (got 2lbs free) at 1120-1150fps
Veggie wad between the powder & boolit
Compressed load
Same log above, the boolit went 7 inches in then hit a knot and exited out the side.
