Why?

While I wait for my next paycheck to go to Powder Valley for 2400 and 4227, I was going through my supply and came across most of a lb of N105 used briefly for a 38Super project years ago. I'm done with that.

I was thinking, this is really a midrange powder, its gotta be useful for something in cast bullets. (No, I don't have a V.O. load book). Post anything from 222 to 45/70 or whatever you got. Chances are good I can use it. [smilie=1:

8-9 grains in 222 with 65 grainers or lower; pistol primer. Up it slightly for 223, etc. Don't waste this powder in pistols. This powder is BlueDot speed. ... felix

45/70 Gvt : standard rifle primer, 18,5grs N105 under a cardboard wad and a Lyman Gould boolit = fine accuracy in my BROWNING 1885 and MARLIN 1895.

357 Mag : standard pistol primer, 13,5grs N105 under a Lyman 358429 (Keith) boolit = very well in my S&W 27 and RUGER BH.

44 Mag : standard LP primer, 17grs N 105 under a LEE 240 grs SWC GC boolit = very good accuracy in my S&W 629 DX.

Be safe and enjoy !

Thanks, Felix. What do you suggest I waste it in? That is, what cast bullet rifle loads does it excel at, if any, or just 222/223?

Darn, I was hoping it was closer to 2400. Oh, well. Still need to burn it up!

You're welcome !
if you want a powder closer to 2400 try N110.

The V-V powders are exceptionally clean and consistent between lots. N110 burn speed is typically a half grain faster than 2400 in the same full-power applications. ... felix

This is not a cast bullet, but it does use N105. :)

18gn of N105 behind a 240gn copper plated SWC in .44Magnum cases gives insane accuracy in the Desert Eagle.
