I recently acquired a "like new" Rem 700 chambered for the .35 Whelen. At first I thought it was one of the Classic series guns, but it has no sights, a black tenite forend cap and a dandy recoil pad. Anyone know when these were made, etc? I suspect it has a 1:16 twist like the Classics did, but I'm not sure, altho I could easily check it. First rounds fired thru it were RCBS 35-200's and 17g of Unique.
I got 7 shots in 3+ inches at 100 yds, but 5 of the 7 were in 1.1 inches! This gun shows promise!

It sounds very much like the one my brother just bought. We are fighting with the 358318 in it right now. We suspect some bedding issues with his, and will be glass bedding the action shortly.

I went to the link and it claims available in 3 popular calibers.....30-06,7mm mag and 270 win.
Did I miss something where it says available in .35 Whelen?

Shuz, when you pull up the page, click on the "specifications" tab on the right. It lists a whole bunch of calibers, including 35 Whelen.

I have a unbedded Remington classic(1-16")and it doesnt shoot the 200Fn as well as the RCBS 250 SP or NEI 282g bullet. Both bullets will group 5 into 1" at 100 (for the first two record targets at least<G>)I have a Cramer that is a close copy of the 358318 and it shoots about 1.5" I shot the NEI at the Spokane Wa.CBA match in production class last year and may have shot with you.I think i used 25.0 of 4227 at that match. My 700 has a pretty abrupt thoat so i have to use a taper die on bullets with noses much over .350.
