Need a cord for a Lyman bottom pour I just picked up at a show. This is the one with 2 posts. Anyone know of a source?

A good hardware store should have what you need to replace a cord. Take your old one with you & ask for help if you're not familiar with cords. Most importantly, make sure you get a cord with a wire gauge thats as big, or bigger than the original cord was.

Good point about the HW store.

My problem is I don't have the original cord, guess I would have to bring the pot.

The cord for your pot would be at least the same size as one for an electric iron or one of those electric space heaters or a toaster... and that would probably be 16 gauge. DO NOT get lamp cord which is 18 gauge and smaller...that is too small to carry the load that a melting pot needs. 14 gauge is even bigger and would also do the job. Wire gauges(sizes) run backwards with the smaller the number being the larger dameter wire. You don't have to bring the pot with you if you can read off the pot info that tells how many amps it draws. Good quality wire also has the amp rating printed on it every couple of feet so you can see right away if the wire is rated big enough to carry the load. LLS

So the spacing on these two prongs is pretty standard?

The cord is a standard item for electric appliance's.

Years ago I bought a Lyman 51 at a yard sale and the cord had been shredded by rats.

My local Tru Value Hardware store had three hanging in the display rack when I got there!

That would be my first stop.

I have a cord from a Lyman furnace. Used once. It will fit both the 10lb. and 20lb. furnace.
$15 shipped to you.

I bought my 20lb Lyman at a Pawn shop without a cord...owner sold it to me for 12.95 because of lack of cord...went 2 blocks down the road to a thrift store and picked one up from the used appliance section for .50 !
