I bought a cheap jewelry scale off E-bay. I made sure it had a calibration weight. It measures in four modes, one of them grains. If you calibrate it every time, it is consistently .1 grain off from my Lyman DPS III. It works good enough.

Mid-south shooters supply has , or had one for about $25.00. I bought one years ago, and it has worked like a champ. Runs on AAA batteries, and come with check weights. I use it, and LEE loaders, while on vacation at the beach, and I'm bored, and miss my re-loading stuff.

What do you concider cheap and what are you talking about weighing? There's a difference in weighing powder and weighing bullets.

It just makes no sense to me to seek out a dirt cheap way to weigh a flammable solid that when PROPERLY used can generate 50,000 to 60,000 PSI inside a pressure vessel that is in some cases pressed against your face (bullpup rifles)

Model DW-100AS from amazon. I was lucky and got it for about $19. It comes with 2 -- 50 gram check/zeroing weights. Weighs grams, grains, oz, carat.

midway has a frankford arsenal electric scale on sale right now for under $20. I figured I'd use it just to verify my beam scale, and perhaps cull out light cast bullets. I have been pleasantly surprised by the scale. I didn't have my sights set very high for $20, but I can't imagine a better scale at 5 times the price. Accuracy to .1 gr, and it doesn't wander at all like so many electric scales will.

Hiram beat me to the punch, but myself and a reloading friend of mine both purchased the DigiWeigh DW-100AS digital jewelry scale off of ebay for $19. The price has gone up a little since we bought ours, but they are amazingly accurate and measure up to 1542 grains. They also weigh in ozs, carats and grams. I have used mine now for about two years and it still measures perfectly with my Lee balance scale.

P.S. Amazon has them now for 11.48 (new). Cheapest price I've seen!!
