i scored today. at 70 years young it means differant today than when i was 20.
hehehe. any how i got 110 lbs for free. about 70 lbs looks like tin based alloy. it has the same fine grain structure as linotype and it has a nice ringing sound when hit
with a hammer. i have about 40 lbs of this realy hard ingots that don't make a ringing
sound when hit with a hammer. it's britle and real course grainy structure.
here is a pic of the grain structure
TIA

I've never gotten antimony in ingots, it's all been crushed to various sizes from ~2 in on down to dust. It does have similar grain structure.

Not much help, huh???

Melt it and see what temp it melts at. And check the Specific gravity on it. those two should tip you off as to what you have.

Dang!! What a deal.. Antimony figures about $7.00 pr pound, however you buy it.

Sure looks like antimony to me. It melts around 1200 degrees F. I use a propane torch to melt antimony into hot molten mix. Once antimony is alloyed with lead it will re-melt at the same tempt. as the WW.
