"Texturing" tupperware stocks, how to?

Anybody have experience or info on testuring plastic/composite/plastic ie "tupperware" stocks? As in how to apply texture in the locations, pistol grip and forearm, usually checkered on wood stocks? Have 3 stocks that I would like to get a "grip" on. Any of this info on this process out there? Thanks, 10 ga

I go the Cheap Charlie route. Just use black adhesive stair tread tape, sometimes called "skateboard tape", available by the foot in several widths at your local farm store or Ace hardware.

Do a search in the handgun section under "stippling". A few guys have done it with good results. It basically involves pressing something hot into the plastic to raise a sharp edged dimple. A shooter at the range did the frame on his STI 1911 using the checkered button off a mag release. Just heat and press in. It came out great, and is very grippy.

I coat the required area with JB weld and sprinkle CLEAN DRY coarse sand to it while it is still wet.
Works OK, maybe too sharp at times because I use cracked gravel sand.

On the double stack 1911, almost the entire lower frame is. The rails on his that mate to the slide are metal, and are affixed to a polymer lower grip/trigger guard assembly.

Now it makes sense to me. I own five 1911s but no double stacks and am actually considering buying an STI frame to put a National Match slide on and the whole double stack thing never crossed my mind.

Brush (or spray) on truck bedliner.

I used a can of spray on bedliner from Wally world about 2 years agon on an old shotgun stock. Came out black, textured, and somewhat gritty. Gritty enough to notice I had to knock it down in the cheek comb area.

I know some bedliner coatings come out smoother but with a texture. If you only need a little bit, try a dealership orautobody shop.

Ive used the skateboard tape, if you want to reduce the size of the grip a bit after sanding a soldering iron does an exelent job of stippling.

He was actually in a nice sleep. But when the pic was taken, his eyes were coming open and and was slowly waking up. Kinda neat to be able to "pet" him while he was becoming sober after being tranquilized and relocated. The big brown wide collar was a GPS radio locator. he was only about 100 pounds, just a youngin'!
