Anybody have any experience with the old 7 hole Texan presses? Are they primarily for pistol or are they stout/large enough for rifle work?

I have one of the early ones, used it only for handgun work though it is an all steel beast. Certainly strong enough for rifles. The auto primer feed is best left to those with a mechanical engineering degree.

I have used one since 1963. I figure that i have loaded close to a hundred thousand rounds with it. The majority were 38 special and 45 acp but also thousands of 223, 243, 257 Roberts, 30-30s and lord only knows what else. Perhaps I am wrong but I considered it marginal for use with rifle cases and now use a RCBS A2 for everything larger than 223. I also now use a Lee Turret for all pistol cartridges plus 25-20, 222 and 223 rounds. The old Texan still appears to be in almost new condition and is used for special purposes. It is permanently set up with carbon steel dies to size nickel plated 38/357, 44 Special/44 Mag and various 45 cases. It als serves for use with an assortment of Lee Bullet sizing dies.
If you can get it for a decent price I would advise buying it. Neil

Would this press be called the Model "T" by chance?
I wound up with a slightly used automatic primer feed for this press some time ago in a lot purchase and it is an "interesting" set up.
