Drift out the pin let to right. Used the bench grinder to knock off the little tabs, and level it out on the botton. some 400 grit paper for polish. Reinstall. Free plug.

That's a nice job. Is there any possibility that it could spin and return to safe without your knowing? That would spoil a good day. Probably not too much chance.

It can spin, but all the metal on the bottom side is ground down and polished past the safety level...if that makes sense?

Yes sir, I believe it does make sense. I just sent off to Nate Kiowa Jones for his 92 DVD and ordered a safety mounted elevation adjustable peep sight. Hasn't arrived yet but it should be here soon. Will let you know how that works. My LSI had a "middle" sight that was two pieces rivited together and the rivit was loose. Caused for expansive groups. I mounted a full Buckhorn and sort of used it as a forward mounted peep sight. The bolt mount will get it back where it belongs. I'm not real handy with a file and a polishing wheel. I truly enjoy seeing the work of those who are. Nice Job.:-)

I would very much like to see pics of that sight when you get it back. I have thought hard on getting one.

There is a post on the lever gun group (Rossi 357) started 1-28-2010 by Smokinbarrel. The second post on that thread is by freightman. It has a link to Leverguns.com. That link shows the sight. :groner: I hope this is clear. Let me know if you need more info.

I took it out today.
I think I have a new fun rifle. Shot two different loads.
6.5gr Unique
12gr 2400
Both behind the Lee 158 FN, and small rifle primers.
Both loads were at 3in @ 100yds. With the 2400 grouping slightly high and to the right.
I put over 200 rounds down it today, Zero leading. I would have thought there would have been a little, but none. Just some powder flakes.
This thing recoils like a 22.
I recovered a couple boolits that were fired into an old propane tank. I will take some measurements and post some pics.

Boolit started out .359 wide.
Boolit on left, .657 wide, .365h
Boolit on right, .760 wide, .258 h. This looked like a more direct hit.
Now, I dont think it will expand like this on game. I could be wrong, would not be the first time.
Both unique and 2400 loads shot good in the gp100. Just have to try it on the blackhawk next.

I simply mounted a Skinner LoPro in a safety plug I made for one of my Rossi's.

It zeroed easily with the issue front sight.

There's no question that the 357 is fun to shoot. I have about 40 test loads to shoot this week end. In and amongst 'em are a bunch of 357s. I have 3 rifles that shoot the 357 Mag. 1. A Converted 92 Winchester 24" octagonal made in '05. 2. Browning B-92 20" from 1978 and 3. a converted Martini action with the barrel cut to 20 inches. Each is delightful in its own way but I wish the Martini had the original length barrel. It would work better for near silent loads. A friend gave me a lot of H-110 so I'm trying to find out where the 150 grain LBT BB Ogival wadcutter starts to loose accuracy, and how fast I can move a 180 grain LBT FN GC with acccuracy. Probably be at the range most of the day.

I recieved my sight yesterday and got it mounted in a matter of minutes. The safety had a hard time coming out but I finally managed to coax it loose. I have it mounted on the LSI in 45 Colt. This one is going to the range this weekend too. It looks almost exactly like the one Pietro showed above. It's most attractive on the rifle and I like the way I can just feel it on the heel of my hand when I carry the rifle on its balance point .
