Yesterday I opened a carton of CCI small rifle primers. (1000) Looked on the box and guess what the price tag was? $11.30! When do you think I bought those?

Prior to 1995---- I have some I bought at $16.99 back then, after the last Great Primer Crisis.[smilie=p:

As we speak, I am holding a unopened carton of CCIs 250 Magnum Rifle Primers (1000). The carton measures 2" wide, 1 3/4" high by 4 3/4" long. White lettering on a red field. I bought these new for $8.95 a lifetime ago. Very early 70s I believe. They're still in perfect condition.

I have about half of a brick of CCI BR-2 benchrest primers . Found them in the back of my safe hiding. The sticker says $12.95. Best I remember, got them in the mid 70's. have used almost a whole tray with no misfires.

In the fall of 2007, I bought 20,000 primers (10,000 large and 10,000 small pistol). They were Federals and cost 19.75 per 1000 (+hazmat and shipping).

If I had an opportunity to do that right now, I WOULD "in a New York Minute"...

I did a quick inflation calclulation....assuming that you bought those in 1975 the inflation-calculated price for 2010 would be $56.32

Of course we all know that salaries have not kept pace with inflation :(

Bought out a closeout of primers at a gun shop in either '06 or 07. Paid a little less than $50 bucks per 5,000. Cleaned out SP, LP, SR, LR, one of the few times I was carring a large amount of cash.

Hey DrNick, just looked at the Powder Valley site. They list BR-2's at $37.00. They are out of stock now, but they had some last week. Blasted HazMat screws up everything. I hav'nt seen any locally in a long time.

Mid to late 1970's I'd say, 'cuz my boxes say the same general thing and that's when they hail from.

Not related to primers, but I have an old orange box that had 50 gr. 224's in, and a price tag of $3.15. But when I bought that box, to me it was expensive. Back then I was buying surplus 4831 for 50cents a pound in brown paper bags from Hogden. Surplus corrosive primers from Hogden were about $5.00 a K.

Just been told at my local gun club that all reloading powders, including black powder substitutes are going up from around £32 a pound to £45 a pound. [$51 to$72]. English prices are just crazy.

The mind wanders, but that sounds about right for late 1980's depending on where purchased,I guess. 4 or so years ago I was paying 45.00 a sleeve for cci 200 OEM primers, same guy was selling OF 06 mil brass for 20.00 a thousand, I only bought K. It happens, still kicking myself!
