You'll never convince me that it will shoot a whole case of bullseye with a soldered in place bullet (in 30-06 original configuration) and beat a Jap Arisaka in strenght...nope Mr Hatcher, just don't believe it.

May be cool, but why not just buy a Browning Bar which is already made in 338 mag?

Joe--

I remember reading that claim for the Garand action, and it seemed like a great way to waste a good platform to me. But what do I know? I do think the BAR x 338 Win Mag is a better use of a lot less money.

Da, Tovarich Marlin--in People's Republic, the proletariat CAN own the self-loading rifle Starmetal mentions, it is sporting rifle without vertical gripping surface or flash hider that makes gun neculturniya in PRC.

I'll have to take a look at a Garand next time I see one somewhere. See how much meat is on that front receiver ring and see what size the lugs are compared to a Arisaka bolt. Remember Jumptrap had a hard time blowing up a round receiver Mosin Nagant and he had to use a case full of Bullseye and even at that it only swelled the chamber and never broken or cracked the bolt lugs. The bolt didn't blow open either. I'd wonder what a Garand would do with a case full of Bullseye and to make the test fair remove the gas block and then the action is like a bolt action without the bolt trying to open. Of course it may blowup before the bullet gets past the gas port hole anyways, who knows.

Pretty slick. I think the writer is mistaken, however, in his comments about stiffening a rod. Drilling out the center or fluting won't do it unless the amount of material in the rod remains the same.
