Last fall I could not find a keg of Bulls Eye. Cabellas had an 8lb of Titewad for much cheaper than anything in BE Red dot burning range. I nabbed it up only to find very little handgun or rifle data for it. I started out with low Bulls Eye charges and worked up from there. Boy do I like this powder! It burns so clean I sometimes wonder if I had dry patched a barrel after shooting it. It is very predictable and heavier loadings do not appear spikey or erratic. It is bulky and I like that. Not the best through my Dillon powder measure but the Lee disk measure meters it well. Chronograph shows low SD and ES. TW lights easy and is position tolerant. I started using it in place of RD for gallery loads and "cats sneeze" loading. 1 gr will push a 45 gr .225 boolit out of .223 for gopher shooting. If it is not apparent, I really like Titewad!! I haven't tried it in .45ACP yet but intend to when weather clears or I get my shooting stall built.

It shoots fine in a 45, I've shot thousands. IIRC I was using 5.2gr for an IPSC major load and recoil is on a level with 452AA.
If I remember I will check that this evening when I get home.

I used it for 12 gauge target loads for a long time.. until someone gave me a nice sized can of Red Dot. I like it, relatively cheap and plentiful.. The other that I like is Alliant Promo.

My go to powders are not easily acquired locally, so I picked up a couple of cannisters of Titewad. I've worked up loads for 380 acp, 9mm, and 45 acp. The fast burn reduces velocities I'm accustomed to with my usual powders for these; but its cheap and available. Hodgdon designed it for 12 gauge. A few folks on this forum are true Titewad believers and will surely give you their reports. In a nutshell, it moves lead!

I have a jug but I haven't used any of it. I bought it on sale as an impulse buy only to discover that at the time there was no pistol data published for it. I think Hodgdon publishes an "official" load for 45acp now.

It's really close to red dot. I just used educated guesses.

Be careful Daniel. Its faster than RD and a touch faster than Bullseye. But can be used successfully as you have noticed.

You can use Clays data by weight as a starting point with Titewad. It is an excellent low velocity/low recoil powder. It does this by generating its peak pressure very quickly without driving the bullet very fast. Don't use recoil as an indicator to think you can load a higher charge as you develop a load.
