I am using RCBS 45-70 dies and have run into a small problem. When I load 535gr Lyman boolits my seater plug has to be screwed all the way out to a point that it is only being held by about a thread. I am afraid that sooner or later that thread is going to strip out. Does someone else make a longer seater die? Or am I missing something?

Why don't you just back off the die body a few turns then screw in the seater stem the same amount.
If you have the die screwed in that far to crimp you are better off doing that in a separate operation anyway.
You can take the seater stem completely out when you crimp that way.

That is what I am doing now, I am just wondering if there is a die that is longer.

I like the Hornady seater dies , they can be purchased seperatly.I use them for 45-70 , 45-90,7mm-08 &.308 Win
for loading .308 cast call Hornady& order a seating stem for a 303 British to use in your .308 seating die

I use a nickel between the bottom of the die and the shell holder.
Gives just the right gap with the new fangled dies RCBS came out with a few years ago.
