Hey Guys,
I dont post here much, just read, but I now need some advice on the 7mm-08. I just ordered a Marlin xs7 in 7mm-08. I have reloaded cast bullets for many years but never a 7mm of any type. I ordered all the stuff I need for reloading it. I ordered a lee 130 gr. GC RN mold for it. I need any advice on loads for this bullet with these powders, IMR-4895, unique and 2400. these are the powders I have on hand. Thanks for your help.

I never shot cast in my 700 V but I have some once fired by me brass .7mm08 headstamp.

My rifle loved WW brass formed from 308.

I`ll trade for `bout anything 38 caliber or GP100 related.

Don`t need boolits though.

Cruisin for Lyman 2 holer handles ???

& $$$$ allways works!!!!

PM if interested .

Hello !
I load cast for my SAKO 7-08 VLS and have tried several molds. Lyman (160grs), LEE 130grs and RCBS (168grs) that gave me approximative results because they are NOT boreriders in my gun. I have better results now with a LEE soupcan 7mm bullet (I'll post results when I'll have time to test at 200 meters and take a few pics).
I have ordered the groupbuy 7mm 150grs borerider design but don't have it yet. I would try it for hunting in my 7x64 Smith & Wesson 1500. Try your boolit in your MARLIN and see how it does (if it is a bore rider that certainly will be OK). My best 7-08 load is with 16grs of Vihtavuori N110 (similar to 2400), no filler and a rifle primer (I have to chrono it too).

[smilie=s: SCIBIL, are you sizing ALL of the 7 Soupcan ? I found that I had to lube & check in a Lyman H&I then run them through a Lee push through sizing die to get the proper seating depth in a 7 TCU [short neck]
The Saeco 070 with an OAL of .951 is almost identical to the 7 Hunter GB WE are waiting for

I'm not sure if I was clear in my question, I ment do you size the entire bullet from the top driving band down.
For the 7 TCU I'll probably TL them, then lube & check so there is lube in the bottom three GG then run it through a Lee push through die.

This is an old post, but I wanted to add some data for anyone else who, like me, has the wonderful 7mm-08 round in their collection. I get very consistent, accurate results with H4895, clip on wheel weights, and the Lyman 150 gr. RN, GC.

I have the Ruger 77 in their little compact type rifle with the 16 1/2" barrel. This rifle absolutely loves this Lyman 150 gr. Loverin style bullet. Using clip on wheel weights the mould throws 145 grain projectiles.

I use Lee equipment, resize to .285, tumble lube, and combine with a CCI large rifle primer and 23 grains of H4895. I seat to an OAL of 2.53" This is the most accuate cast bullet in this rifle. And the recipe above will give me 2 MOA at 100 yards consistently.

I have gotten good results for my 7mmTCU (10" bbl contender) using 20gr of H4198 and 135gr Lee Soup Can with gas check and WSR primers. I have had some good but non repeatable results in my 7mm-08 (BLR & Mod Seven) 20" bbls, using the same Lee Soup Can 135gr, 17.6gr Blue Dot and CCI-250 primers (I had used the same load using F155 LPP too. I believe the velocities are in the 1800 fps. You can start from 14gr Blue Dot and work your way up. Here are some pictures of my 7mm's (7mm-08, 7TCU, 7-30W). As you can see, I have a long ways to go before I can get fine groups as some other do. For hunting, it is just good to me.

Oops!
The 7mm-08's were using j-word 130gr Speer SPBT bullets. I had gotten similar results with the cast boolit on the 7-08 but not consistant. The 7TCU and the 7-30W are with Lee 135 or 138 Soup Can. Sorry about that.
