If H&R (Marlin) reintroduced the Model 999 Sportsman would you buy one? I got to thinking about mine(stolen) yesterday when I saw they still sell speed loaders for them. That top break with 9 shot speed loaders was fun.

If they sold for $200.00 or under, yeah. It'll never happen.

I agree. I don't see any inexpensive new handguns in my version of the crystal ball either.

Agreed................but if it did become available for under $200 it would be in kit form, in the white, no finish machining, and a couple of wood blocks for grips that you had to whittle yourself. I can remember buying those flintlock kits at the grocery store in 1974 for around $25, can also remember almost taking my hand off with black powder too (16 years old Art "Whats a powder measure?")........

I have seen those available (used) at various venues for reasonable prices in the past year. That was a pretty decent handgun. It wasn't an S&W but it was worthwhile.

I am still looking for a great deal on a used one. A friend of mine had one and was: 1. fun, 2. accurate and 3. almost as fast to shoot as a Colt woodsman being only one shot short of a 10 rd. clip. It was a great gun that today would cost more to make than say a Beretta or S&W 22 auto loader and I don't think the newer generation of shooters care for revolvers.

I have had two of them over the years and sold both, I'm sorry. I'd pay more than 200 for a new one, don't know how much more until I see it.

Yeah, I suppose I' expect to pay more than $200.00. But it's a workingmans gun, always has been. Gotta make it affordable.
