I used a grade 8 bolt for the punch, used a 7/32 drill bushing for the die( press fit) in a piece of 7/8 all thread. Using on my Corbin press. I'm going to make a lead extruder die next.

Nice work there Hardcase!

Is it a single pass from empty hull to finished jacket with your setup?

Not a 2-step process as in other RFJM kits?:
1-knock the rim down
2-draw down to finished jacket dia

Are you annealing the hulls first?
Did you "hardcase" any of the die components?

Tell us more!

The drill bushing should be hardened ID and would give .218 - 219 jacket.

Did you use the flanged bushing non flanged? I can never remember which is the h and wich is the L series of drill bushings.

Caveape, single pass. I'm annealing after draw down. No "hardcase" on this die, but the lead extruder will be .

Manleyjt .218 on the button, non-flanged, but I did chamfer the mouth, A LOT.

Good stuff there! If the bushing ends up getting pulled out I used some set screws through the side of the die to hold it in. Worked really well for me.

Yea the drill bushings work good. I tapered mine a lot as well.

I used a flanged bushing but I think either would work fine.

Real nice Hardcase.....

That is a very nice set up. Great job on the work!

An alternate retention idea, depending on the outside dia of the bushing, if you drilled the top of the all thread so that the bushing dropped down into it and then threaded the inside of the hole you could screw a hollow locking collar down onto the bushing holding it firmly on the inside of the all thread. The jackets would just push up through the whole works and come out the top.

MightyThor,
That's much like my Bullet Swage Supply RFJM kit from Larry Blackmon. It works great that way.
Mine is set up in my RockChucker on a portable stand so I can take it wherever I want.......to the store (while waiting for my wife to do the shopping), etc.........

Thats a good effort indeed. I found that the first draw works better with a punch with a slight narrowing just below the rounded head . This seems to iron out the rim better . Sort of stretches the case rim out and irons on the way out.
Also I found that core bonding allowed higher velocities .
I also found that using a convex point forming punch forming a concave base improved accuracy a slight amount.

I finished mine also and works very well, just don't know what to do with it now.

Run some brass thru it.

I need one of these and a core seat and nose former, I shoot way too many 223s not to have one.
