Anyone seen one of these?

I was on the Outdoor Channel website and saw an ad for this 8 shot BH and a 7 shot SP101 in 327 Federal.

The listed velocity for the BH is almost the same as a 30 carbine. The rimmed cartridge might be a little more reloader friendly.

The word was that Ruger had some of these NMBH 327's on hand and ready to release when they announced the gun. If that had been true, I would have expected to see some in distributors hands by now - or very soon.

I had both the new 327 Black Hawlk and the 327 GP 100 in my hands a few nights back

Both felt good in my hands

I had to leave quick , before I got to tempted and put one or the other on a charge card

Acusport, a wholesaler, has some listed as being in inventory. They also showed a bunch of the longer barrelled sp101. My only reservation is being able to sell
a gun with no prospects of having ammo to sell with it. I have one box of 327 in the store...and it has been very scarce.

The 8 shot BH doesn't ring my bell, wish it was 6 shots in a SS6 frame. Now FIVE rds of .480 Ruger in a SBH....[smilie=w: (And would've boosted sales of a fine cartridge that apparently hasn't set any sales records in the SRH..)

I got an email from Davidsons yesterday offering the Ruger Black Hawk 327 but they are saying it is a 7 shot.
Which is it 7 shot or 8 shot ?

I bought a new one last Thursday from Mike Smith Enterprises in Port Arthur, Texas. The stainless single action feels great. Did the poor man's trigger job by dropping one leg of the trigger return spring. Put some nanolube on the trigger and it feels great! I have a thousand primed hulls from Freedom arms and plenty of 32 caliber bullets. Unfortunately I made a mistake when I ordered the Hornady reloading dies from Midway. I specified USPS instead of UPS. Now I am waiting for the Post Office to deliver my package. Midway says it sometimes takes up to 30 days .... I'll probably wait for a few more days and then cobble up a way to expand the case mouths and use my 32-20 dies to seat and my Lee factory crimp die to crimp. I will also post some pictures.

The early press play had the Blackhawk as an 8-shot/5.5" barrel, the GP-100 as a 7-shot/4.2" barrel. Dunno if other variants are on the horizon or in the hands of distributors.

Kind of a gutty move by Ruger, with so little ammo out there. Granted, 32 S&W Long and 32 H&R Mag can function just fine in the chambers, but I would prefer to see some 327 ammo and brass start showing up before I plunk down whatever folding money is needed to buy one.

The GP-100 interests me, once Starline et al get off their aspirations. I am well-nigh sick & tired of the panic-buying mantra being used to excuse poor/lazy business-as-usual consumer market servicing by ammo and component makers. I'm at the point of saying QUIT ********, SHUT UP, START PRODUCING. The whole thing is OLD, DEAD, AND STINKING.

I had a SP101 in 327 along with 100 pieces once fired brass and 100 factory loads as well as RCBS dies .

And like a fool I sold it all !

Now I wish I had sold the SP101 and kept the rest , because I think I want one of the Blackhawks

Forgive me for being nosy, but is Freedom Arms selling .327 Federal cases? I have had an SP-101 for over a year now and would love to buy some brass. I am too cheap to shoot factory ammo to get some. Thanks.

Yep, and primed too. In quantities of 100 and 500. Presumably for the care and feeding of their appropriately chambered model 97. (That's the small one, right? I constantly get it and the model 83 mixed up.)

There ya go, Al. A field size .30 rimmed carbine like you always wanted. A six-shot, too. Only $1891 MSRP. Enjoy.

Also on the .327/.30 rimmed carbine front: Starline had a rep at the SHOT show --they were teamed up with Sierra-- and I gave him a ration of dung beetle squeezin's for dragging their butts on the .327 brass. (And other things.) The brow beating I delivered was so severe he gave me the phone number of the decision maker at the mother ship, and then ran and hid, crying like a little girl.

So, has anyone fired the 327 in a Blackhawk???

I was thinking of buying a 30 carbine BH but might wait and see what pans out with this.

Probably be wiser to buy the 30 carbine BH as I own 3 m-1 carbines and several molds, and a couple thousand cases and dies..

If you're like me and could care less about the trendy nature (and price) of brand new release guns, that would be the way to go. (The ballistics are quite similar.)

Thanks for the info. regarding Freedom Arms and thanks also for giving Starline a hard time about brass. They seem like great folks, but come on, it is time for some brass. The customer service lady at Starline is tired of hearing from me regarding the issue. With all the weird calibers they make brass for, you would think .327 Federal would be a no-brainer. I wonder why the Freedom Arms brass is primed?

I'll do my best to resist temptation. The price is a big help in that regard.

Many thanks for delivering the wake-up call to the Starline rep at the Show. The present conditions as to brass cause me to agree with your assessment as to the Blackhawk in 30 Carbine being a better idea, and 32-20 brass (which Starline DOES make) can be adapted to the 30 Carbine Blackhawk easily. My preference for a double-action variant remains, and I'll spend no money until someone gets off their butt concerning 327 brass. I would prefer to avoid a 5mm Remington scenario.

That Gunblast article was JUST what I needed to read, mid-caliber enthusiast that I am. The ballistics listed by Mr. Quinn meet or exceed the 30 Carbine/Blackhawk.

Yeah, THANKS LOADS! :)

Now you're getting it! I knew the snark would set in eventually! :D

See if you can identify the following cartridges:
.32 Rimless Magnum
.30 Rimmed Carbine
.32 Auto Mag...

Speaking of which, that gives me an idea for my next custom... Take a new .327 GP100, mill .030" or so off the back of the cylinder, have Ranch Products punch me out some moon clips...

OK, I'll stop now. I'm having too much fun. [smilie=s:

I backed into a Charter Arms Patriot 327 Mag last year. I am still looking for some brass. Nobody is selling it! I was forced to buy some 32 H&R Mag brass just to have something to shoot a boolit in.

I am glad to see that Ruger has come out with some new guns for this caliber. This is a good caliber and delivers excellent accuracy and decent ballistics without breaking your wrist. However they are loud. I have a BH in .30 Carbine which is really fun to shoot but this one is also very loud but does deliver the goods...

Come on Starline.......get the tooling up and make some available for us shooters and reloaders. I just cannot stomach paying top dollar for factory fodder just to get the brass for reloading.

The velocity that is listed in the Ruger ad is real close to what I got many years ago out of my 30 carbine BH.

What are the prices running on the 327 BH?

See if you can identify the following cartridges:

.32 Rimless Magnum
.30 Rimmed Carbine
.32 Auto Mag...

1) 30 U.S. Carbine
2) 32-20 resized in 30 Carbine die
3) 7.65 MAS M-1935 pistol

I reload for all of them. :)
