I broke out my RCBS 145 SIL mould the other day and cast a few to try in my 7mm-08. It's a commercial FN action with a Douglas air gauge 1 in 9 1/2 twist that I had built when the 7-08 was still a wildcat.

I decided to start with 2400 powder @ 15 grains with Winchester WLP primers and was pleasantly surprised with the results at 50 yards. The results are only the average of two five shot groups for each powder charge.

15.0 grains = .711"
15.5 grains = .601"
16.0 grains = .499"
16.5 grains = .532"

I didn't have my chronograph set up and wondered if anyone has any idea of velocities. I'm going to continue increasing the powder charge.

Nice looking targets, I have a Savage 14 in 7mm-08 that I just started on. Right now, I'm running through a pound of 5744 but, when that 's gone all I have is 4198 to work with. I like the light kick and the looks of the 7.08.

I'm on my way to the range right now to try the RCBS- 145- sil. in my REM 700 7-08. I loaded 20 gr. 5744, and 38 gr 4350. I hope it shoots as well as yours.

I'm waiting on the 150 gn bore rider hunter group buy to try in my Rem M7. The rifle will shoot MOA @ 200 with 139gn jacketed at around 2700 fps. We'll see what the cast will do. I gotta find 7mm gas checks.

Well the 20 gr. 5744 shot two 5-shot groups, 1 5/8" and 1 7/8" at 100 yds. Not bad. The 4350 loads didn't work out.

I'll run them through Quick Load to give you an idea. I'm assuming a 22" barrel.
RCBS 7mm 145 Sil
15.0 / 2400= 1693 fps @16885 psi
15.5 / 2400= 1731 fps @17946 psi
16.0 / 2400= 1768 fps @ 19042 psi
16.5 / 2400= 1805 @ 20172 psi

Of course these are formula generated results...... and it will be interesting to see what they actually chronograph. There isn't a way to plug in the primer as a variable so I couldn't do that.
