The trailboss data for 38 special or 357 mag will likely work for your plinking needs. Maybe use the top 38spec trailboss load as your starting point and work up from there as desired.
Basically, as long as you don't compress trailboss, you'll be within safe pressures.

The other powders are slower than I would typically look at for plinkers.

Hope this helps.

I use 2400 behind various heavy bullets, like a CB Lyman 214 grain SWC, or some factory bullets.

What are you shooting these in? I have a 10 inch and 14 inch Contender barrels, but I am not sure about the 125 grain plain base bullets. I would try some thing like 8 grains of 2400 behind that bullet in my Contnder.

Trailboss, fill to base of bullet and weigh, then start at 70% of that figure.

You want mild plinking loads this is the way to go, IF you want to make a Super Mag out of it get a 200 FN and fill the case with 4759

22 inch barreled Handi rifle.

I also have some unique.

Will try the trail boss.

Once the barrel is broken in I want to do some deer loads with heavier bullets.

TB and Unique should be about the same BY WEIGHT, IE I use 8.0 gn of TB & Unique in my 7 TCU,
As for heavy cast for hunting, check the group buy's for the 360-180 gn and there are the two 200 gn FN by RCBS & Saeco
PM me when you want to try some 200 FN

Is the gas checked RCBS 35-200-FN one you are speaking of?

How fast should someone push this in a rifle?

depends upon the alloy, lube, barrel twist and smoothness -
I have some hard cast (babit alloy mix) that I have shot up to 2100 fps
in my 358 Savage 99 without leading.

Have you shot the Trail Boss in your Maxi?

I have a BSA Martini Cadet rebarrelled in .357 Max with 1:22 twist I built some 25 years ago.

Experimented a lot for the first few years with various weight J-bullets. I've found it shot best with mild loads and light bullets, 125 gr did not do nearly as well as the 140 gr Remington JHP's.

I purchased 500 Remmy 140's and have been shooting them occasionally over the years. A .38-55 Whitney rolling block has become my "Main Squeeze".

My supply of 140 grain Remmies is about gone and am going to order 140 grainers from Oregon Trail.

Ranch Dog's 359-190-RF is also a FANTASTIC hunting option for the .357 Max. http://www.ranchdogoutdoors.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=1_5_18&products_id=28 He has them in stock, my 6 banger throws them hot and fast and consistent, no tapping the mold needed, they almost jump out of the cavities. I had very good success with RL7 and 4227 with this boolit.
