What is a fair per pound price for linotype?

Are you looking to buy or sell? It seems to be going around $1.25 plus shipping on evilbay. You might be able to get it cheaper at the scrap yards or old print shops if you can find it. Hope this helps.

I'm talking about buying. I have an opportunity to buy it at $0.50 per pound and the seller advises he has a ton.

Wayne;
I would buy as much as you can (then up the amount by 100%).

You won't go wrong at that price!!

Oh yeah, buy all that you can for 50c/#. Easily worth $1-$1.50/#.

Does the fact that it's in slugs (font strips for lack of better description) instead of pigs make any price difference?

Wayne,

If you are concerned about it I will buy half of it for the .50/lb price and pay for shipping.
Minimize the risk and payout! I need some to harden up some alloy I have and about half
of what you have available would be just right. ;-)

in letters and spacers is better than pigs you know it's line-o-type that way.

Nope, if anything, at least you know it's lino & not mystery metal. Yep, buy 1000# & keep what you want & sell the rest to pay for what you keep. I have about 300# or I would say sign me up.
