Is there any way to to take up the "2 1/2 feet" of travel? It seems that it takes forever to get a shot off.I have not bothered to actually look at the trigger as of yet,but if anyone might have any experience with these rifles,I'm all ears. My son and I have only put 20 rounds through her,got tired of waiting on it to shoot.

milsup mike, you beat me to that one, same thing I was going to suggest.
You might want to take your bolt apart. I've seen some that had so much grease, ect in them that it slowed the firing pin down. I think the soviet bloc had an overabundance of cosmolen, grease, or whatever. It took me about 3 hours to clean my sks.

Probably the easiest way is to spring for a Huber. I think they're around $80, IIRC.

I'd go the bolt cleaning route first. Several of my Mosin Nagants had bolts packed with old cosmoline. Cleaning and lubing helped a lot. Don't know what 91/30s are going for now but I don't want to spend $80 for a trigger for a rifle than I only paid $80 for to begin with.

I agree, it don't make sense, but if you really want it to shoot you gotta do something about the trigger.

Go over to gunboards.com and there is a gentleman who goes by the name MARKO
sells finnish surplus triggers. These are slightly different than the standard russian triggers and do improve the trigger pull. Put one on my M44 and made a big difference. Frank
