I Will Be Getting My357 Rem Max 14 In Tc Next Week. Will Be Shooting Steel Targets 50-100-150- And 200 Yards. I Have A 200 Gr Gc Mould Comming , Also Have 158 Gr And 180 Gr Jacket .357 And .358 Bullets. I Will Be Using Fed Sr Match Primers. If Any One Is Doing Something Like This And Has Some Loads You Can Share. This Would Save Me Some Range Time. What About A Lighter Load For 50-100 And Heaver For 150-200 ? I Will Let You Know How The Loads Worked For Me. Thanks

My opinions and where I would start .

Rem 7 1/2 primers
Safe load of H4227
With the GC'd 180's

I use a STIFF charge of 4227 in my 15 inch encore, and it works well for me. Seriously go out and buy some Rem 7.5 primers they thump all over others I have tried for some reason in the accuracy dept.

I agree on the 4227, and the GC cast bullets. Out of my Ruger SBH I have gotten very good results with CCI small rifle magnum primers, so that's my standard primer. Details on loads, etc. can be found at:

Very good writing, Glen. Much appreciated. Reading between the lines gives credence to putting a cap on a 41 mag wadcutter. Like the performance improvement at longer ranges by doing so, such as: LBT 75 percent meplat versus Keith's 60 percent meplat, followed by a 100 percent "meplat". ... felix

Yes, 4227 is great in the .357 max. Stay away from it in the .44 though. I shot a 39 out of 40 IHMSA with my .357 max SBH the first time I used it and did not have any sight settings. I was planning on just getting the settings at the shoot. I don't remember the load of 4227 because I threw out the paperwork when I sold the gun---which was a big mistake. I have kicked myself a million times.

WERE YOU USING CAST BULLETS. WHAT WEIGHT OR TYPE? WAS THAT IMR4227 OR H4227? THANKS
