Gas checks and muzzle breaks

New guy here. Have a XP in 7BR. It has a non-removable muzzle break. Are there any concerns using a gas checked bullet in it? The brake has ports around the whole circumference. Thinking about the RCBS 145 silhouette bullet.

Muzzle brake shouldn't care about gas checks. However, I have had lead bits spewed from the brake on my 7.62 Nato AK shooting cast boolits without checks. The guys to the right of my shooting position had more to duck than supersonic hot brass.:bigsmyl2:

you may or not have to clean some lube or some lead slivers from it.

It is screwed on semi permanently to the end of barrel and is larger than bore diameter.

You should be fine.

I have seen "ported" type brakes where they pulled each and every gas check off.

Yup, what richbug said. You shouldn't have any trouble. Does your brake have a lip on the inside at the front (exit) end? Some designs do, some don't. If there's no lip, there shouldn't be anything to hang up a gas check.

It might be a good idea to make sure you use the hornady style checks that crimp on, rather than the old lyman style that fall off, although that probably isn't necessary.

That said, I have a Magna-Ported T/C Contender 45-70 that has no problem with 'checked boolits.
