What size j-word boolit and cast boolit does this round take? I thought it was only .510 for this round but when I looked it up in "cartridges of the world" they say "The 50 AE uses a 0.500-inch bullet*." Then the * is explained that originaly the design was for .510 but size was reduced to conform to "sporting and destructive device" limits.

Do I need to slug the bore to find out?

A friend who owns one asked me this. I have no experience with the round.

The correct size for the .50 AE and the .500 S&W and the .50 Beowulf is 0.500" for jacketed bullets and 0.502" for cast. A variation of a thousandth or two won't make a significat difference in safety but possibly will affect accuracy.
