Suggestions are welcome....

Is there a group buy going on (or about to start) that would meet my needs?

Thanks everyone.

There are so many group buys going on, I can't say for sure on that question. I have an RCBS 30-180-FN that works well. It is a 2 cavity GC design in iron blocks. Mine has had the GC's portion reamed out to boolit diameter, so it is a PB with a very thick bottom band. I cast them for a friend that has a 30-30 and he has given up J-word boolits since the cast shoot better for him.

I get good results from the Lee C309-150F, but it's a one hole mold. The RCBS 150 grain mold looks very similar.

The GB you wanted to be in on was the 311440 clone done last year.

I use the lee 309-170-F. One hole mold as well. Easy to cast, shoots well enough out of my 336. I keep the velocity down and haven't had any problems.

Lyman #311041 was made specifically for the 30-30 and works well in alot of 30 calibers. The group buy for this mold was late last year.

If your Micro groove barrel has a large bore .302 .303 I would get the Saeco 305. And would forget anything else other than a custom one of type deal. If not a large bore then just about any of flatnose 30's would work.

good luck

I second the lyman 311041. I have used it in numerous 30-30s (M94s, Marlins and Savages) along with many other .30s and it always shoots well. Mine cast a .311 bullet so I leave it that size, particularly for the micr-groove Marlins.

My 30/30,s are all ballard rifling, but a friend of mine uses a Lyman 311041 and sizes them to .310 for his 336 MG. I also use the 311041 sized to .309. Another good bullet is the Lyman 311291.

Okay DEVERS... I might as well try to make you crazy. I'm waiting on this one for my 336A (30-30 Ackley Improved) and Glenfield 30 (30-30 Win). I think it is being cut this week...

It's a TLC311-165-RF... .311" with the Micro-Bands, 165-grains, gas checked.

All of mine and those I load for, without a single exception, all shoot the Lee soupcan well.

I think it is the size that matters with the Marlin too like someone mentioned. The Lee 150 I have is good for plinking & would be a perfect group-buy 6-banger I'll bet. My favorites are the 311041 & 311407 group buy moulds as well as the regular 2-cavity 311041. Of course, the soup can. Anything that rides the bore needs to have a bigger nose in my 336. (.301"). I shoot the same loads with that Marlin as I do in my Win. & Stevens. No leading...none...nada..
