Got the Lee 158 wfn mold on its way as well.
I sure hope this is a good combo. Looking to stay under 1200fps.
I have 2400 and unique on hand.
Will start on some loads as I can. My wife has me studying untill I test on 17 Mar.
She said no guns except on Sundays.
I like the DA for a carry gun.

GP100 is a nive revolver. several in the informal bullseye league. Should be a good combo. Boolit fit is paramount. <1200 is very doable.

Gee, I've had mine for a couple of weeks. Love it. Even carried it concealed Sunday while following my wife around Austin. Can't hardly believe I could conceal a 4 inch GP100.

Don't limit your thinking to 1200 fps. My first range trip I fired Lyman 358091, 148 gr wadcutter with 1/8" drilled HP, 5 shot average was 1513 fps over my chronograph. 14.5 grains of 2400 got me there no problem.

I also shot the Group Buy knock off of 358429, 175 gr Keith SWC, and ran it 1149 fps with 15 grains of H110.

If you have a 4 inch or longer barrel, 1200 fps with a 158 grain boolit will be a great place to start.

I shoot 50/50 wheel weight/pure lead, air cooled, lubed with Felix lube. My GP100 has good dimensions, but a roughly machined barrel. Still very minimal leading with the gas pedal mashed to the floor.

The GP100 also turned in some 2 to 2.25" groups shooting braced over my knees, back against a pole, shooting the hot wadcutters. That earned it a place on my nightstand.

Enjoy yours.

Contratulations! Toughest little .357 on the planet. Hope it is dimensioned correctly (cylinder throats).

Whats the fastest I can go without a gas check? I thought it was 1300fps, that is why I want to stay around 1200. Heck if I can go a little faster that cool.

thanks guys

I have fired the lee fp 158 gr bullet in my GP 100 with 15 gr of W296. I did not chronograph the load but it was fast and did not lead the boar with water quenched WW. However, my everyday load is the same bullet and 7 gr of Unique.

A question whose only answer is "it depends". It depends on the gun, load, alloy, boolit design. In general terms around 11-1200 is it in the 357, but with some playing around you can often go higher.

1100-1200 fps is good. Im not wanting to use gas checks.
I figure starting off with 11gr then work up to 12gr. Thats cross refrencing two books.
I really need a crony.

I shoot that boolit lubed with lar`s CR over15gr of IMR 4227 1352 fps & more accurate than I!!

I did remove the bevel on a 2 holer though to make a true FB.

For a milder loading try 4,0gr. CLAYS , this is a 38 spc. level loading.

Don`t forget `bout the 357477 boolit .
