Well I went to a gun show today looking for another Blackhawk or Marlin in .45 Colt. I sold a Marlin 39A and then bumped into a guy selling a Bisley .44 Hunter. Not really what I was looking for but I've wanted one for a couple of years so made an offer and bought it on the spot. Best of all, I swapped the scope from my ported S&W 629 and put the factory sight back on so am very happy with the new addition.

Very nice! I was just looking at an over priced one in the case at Cabelas. I think, if they lowered there prices a bit I might buy a gun from them.

I love my Hunter model (not a Bisley). Nothing wrong with the open sights but I still can't decide which I like best between the 4x Leupold and the Eotech.

Nice sixgun. I like the rock solid scope mount system on the Hunter. How about an accuracy report when you get a round tuit! Congrats, Dennis :-)

Kingstrider,

I think you will be very happy with your new revolver. I got the exact same gun in a trade several years back and topped it with a Leupold scope. What I am about to write is blasphemy on this forum, but I have only shot high velocity 240 JHPs through it, as they have proven quite accurate and I got it to hunt with in the future. Perhaps I should work up some boolit loads with it as well.

I have the exact same pistol, SBH Bisley Hunter. Mine is very accurate with Lyman 429215 and H110. It also likes LBT OWC 240gr with blue dot.

It may just be my arthritic hands but a 4x is too wobbly. A 2x or a holo sight is more my speed.

If it's wobbly hands, then I have them too. Above 2X the "wigglies" get VERY apparent to me. ;)

Same here guys. I was looking for a 2x and this 4x fell into my lap. I mostly use it for load development.

The Eotech is really easy to grab a moving target. Works good before dawn or after dusk too.

Excellent! I just picked up SBH BisHunter myself but in 45 Colt. I put a 2X28 weaver on it.

$475 with box & all the case candy. I still haven't shot it yet, I'm usually studying for exams and when I do get some free time the weather usually stinks. [smilie=b:

I had the Bisley just like that but did not like the grip so I sold it to a friend. Bioman bought one with the regular grip and it is a shooter so one day I might buy another one.
I think it is the best setup ever for deer hunting. I like the Ultra Dot on them. I don't know how to keep rain and snow off the heads up sights. Maybe a little umbrella!

Which Eotech model are you using? And, how do you mount in on S&W or Ruger SA?

Weigand makes a base that fits the Ruger ring slots on the Hunter model that turns it into a Weaver type base. Then you can mount about anything to the gun.
They make one for the SRH and a RH with ring slots too. They are top notch.
Other guns need drilled and tapped but the Weigand bases are the best I have found.

Eotech 551 A65 on a Weigand Combat mount. It doesn't look 'right' on a pistol but it's quick to acquire the target and I can keep both eyes open. Pretty accurate too.

edit- had to run out to the garage to find the model number and 44man beat me to it :)

Nice looking gun. I have a SBH Hunter in 41 mag. with the standard grip. I had a Bisley 45 Colt and did not like it. To each his own.

Mine is very accurate and shoots many loads very well. Hope yours does as well. Heavy guns but that is o.k. as they would not be considered an everyday carry gun.
