I was out this morning and a big buck came out on me about 8:15 Thats the good news now the bad news. The sun was in my eyes and he was close 35-40 yds, I had to move slow and by the time I got it up he was to my extrme right just about to step out of sight. I got my front sight on target and I had to look off to the side of my rifle trying to see where he was. I thought I had him lined up but after the shot I was lined up on a bunch of leaves and pine neddles in a low tree. He must have steped off in to the thick stuff. Do you think he might come back of have I just made him smarter?

Hard to say if he'll come back. I've had animals stand still and give me a puzzled look (Like; "You idiot, how in hell could you have missed me?") after firing at them.

He may just come back....I have seen crazier things! Good luck!

I have had deer spook from touching a limb with a fleece covered elbow while drawing a bow and never seen them again. I have bumped the same buck several days in a row squirrel hunting. I have seen falling acorns turn deer into a brown streaking sprinting crazy critters. I have killed a buck that watched me reload a muzzleloader after I shot his buddy......................................

Passed up a shot this morning -- a hundred yards at a doe, just after legal hours, it was still pretty dim light. Thought maybe there was a big buck behind her. Wrong... a spike horn half an hour later, so no shot there.

Fortunately for my freezer another hunter in my partly took a smallish legal buck and didn't want to take the time to dress her this afternoon, and has more meat than he needs, so we will eat venison anyway.

I sat in a tree stand this morning and it was WAY too cold for south Georgia. It just should never get down to 11 degrees here. I froze and saw nothing. Only 6 more days left. What was your temp in Alabama?

Upper teensI think I wore my winter motorcycle gear didn't look lie they do on tv but I wasn't cold. I just got back after a evening hunt see pic below, not the deer I was hopeing for but I hit it. He was out to 35yds and him and his brother woudn't stand still. Someone shot aways off and spooked them a little I thought they were gone but they came right back:twisted:. Then they came 15 yds under my stand and stoped:mrgreen:. I shot the closest one and he ran off in high gear:confused:. I thought I missed at 15 yds. I got down snd found my gas check but no blood. But I could smell it I went the way he went, and after about 50yds I heard something moving up the hill , but I thiught thats not the way a wounded hog would go away from the creek and mud and thickets, so I went futher in to the swamp and after about 50 more yds I heard him. I pulled a sneak on him and put one right behind his ear at 30+ yds he droped like a rock. I rolled him over to check for the other shot and there it was center shoulder right whear I aimed. But I was in a tree stand 20+ feet up and he was 15yds out and down hill, Way low not the first time I've done this:-? I felt like a DA. But everthing worked out for me not for him.
