The late that belongs to me??

Yeah, they beat me to it by several days. I just got the NRA notice this afternoon. After reading the comments in the "wheelguns" forum, I think I'll wait until S&W comes out with a model or two. A 6 banger Titanium 2" J-frame or a 6-7 shot 6" K-frame with would be nice.

Stew

Maybe it's just me, but the Blackhawk chambered in .327 Fed. seems to be the revolver equivalent of a Desert Eagle in 9mm.

Of course, the same could be said of the .30 Carbine Blackhawk, so I'll stop now.

Well, it would have low recoil, and some of the folks here just LOVE the Ruger single actions. Personally, I prefer the shorter lock time of the Smiths. But if it turns out to be an accurtate handgun, who cares?

Stew

not even close.....think it is 40kpsi, vs the 9's 34/35kpsi

I would be interested in something like the smaller BH or the single six in .327 preferably 6" barrel. A K frame set up as a hunter would also be nice. Even my full size BH in .357 is boring.

Yes, a single six in .327 would be more interesting.

I wonder if Ruger would consider a Single Seven?

I haven't seen or shot a 327, but with the pressure this is loaded to it seems like it would be a very loud cartridge, like the 30 carbine Blackhawk.
Anyone have one that can chime in?

This is one thing I like about my old J frame 38 Special. Had an occasion to shoot in a hurry without hearing protection and the blast was not bad at all.

I have an SP-101 in .327 Federal and yes the report is loud. I like the cartridge, however until someone makes brass for it, it is going to continue to be a problem.

I have fired 400 rounds of 327 from a Charter Arms Target Patriot. Its loud, but only as expected from 46000. Its a great round and I'm now developing loads using a Lyman 311316 sized to .313 over a heavy charge of AA#9. Should be a good 150 yard jack rabbit gitter.

The ONLY hang-up I see is brass in 327 Federal. Now that viable field revolvers in the caliber are available, in addition to the CCW-skewed little guns--Starline is out of excuses for not making brass in this caliber. It would be a genuine shame for a fine field caliber to die off because the components industry failed to service it. I REFUSE to purchase a revolver for which component brass is not made in its caliber, and I would dearly love to own a 327 Federal.

Starline, get off your a--es. You're a dollar, waiting on a dime.

Al, the same thing happened when Federal and Harrington & Richardson came out with the .32 H&R; the only way brass was available for several years was in Federal factory loads. I remember reading of brass splitting after the first firing or if they were lucky they got a couple of reloads from it.

I think thet is the main reason that I didn't buy a .32 H&R when the neat guns, ( Ruger SSM and the S&W Model 16-4) were first available. I finally got an SSM at a gunshow in Fallon, NV in 2002 or so; They sure went up when Ruger quit putting adjustable sights on .32's.

Since Starline is making .32 H&R brass; I would think it would be fairly simple for them to draw it longer for the .327????

I'd be happy with a 4" or 5" Smith J frame with adjustable sights and a blued finish in 32 Long or Mag. Everything I just listed means I'll never see one.

I guess I'll throw my two bits in, too. I have always enjoyed the 32-20. I've owned numerous rifles and pistols in that caliber. Still own 3 rifles and 4 pistols in 32-20. About the only thing I don't like about the 32-20 is having to lube the cases.... Slows down the race from the loading bench to the backyard or range.

The 327 is attractive in that it will give me almost the same velocities and enjoyment as the 32-20, but with a straight case that can be loaded with a carbide sizing die. I just bought a new, in the box, Buckeye with the 32-20 and 32 H&R cylinders (heck of a find if I say so, myself). I am getting the 32 H&R cylinder rechambered to 327 Fed. I have also ordered a new 8 shot Blackhawk from my favorite gun dealer. I found that Freedom Arms had about 40,000 327 once fired brass cases and ordered a thousand. I have Hornady dies, a box of 100 grain Hornady JHP, 1000 hard cast 115 gr. RNFP ordered, too. I am also in the group buy for the 118 gr 32 cal boolit mould... getting an RG4 gas checked beauty.

I probably will take pictures and dust off the Chrony. I will let you know how the 327 compares to the 32-20 and I will press the envelope with both to get a good idea of their abilities with the Holy Silver. If all goes as I hope, I also plan the get a Marlin 32 H&R rifle and rechamber it to 327. Now that ought to be a fine little firearm for whatever comes my way while hunting these Southeast Texas woods. I have no doubt that a well placed gas checked bullet of the Holy Silver will keep the wild boars' fangs off me. (Too darned old and fat to be running from them...):bigsmyl2:
