Im gonna throat the chambers a little longer, the bullet fit is really tight but it does work.

I've been contemplating some 255gr swc's for my 45acp. I am VERY curious to see how your load works out.

255s work great 5.5 gr of unique 830fps ish worked very well in a few 1911s . I went up to 7gr in the revo but realized it was a bit tooo hot.

I ran this same bullet through my Para P-14. They worked great.

I made it up with Unique powder and CCI brass. I'll have to dig up my old load info for the exact charge weight......

Thats GREAT news!!

Im gonna try Unique next, as the n-350 leaves unburnt powder behind. I dont want to start messing with magnum primers yet. LOL

Q-load says 4gr and a oal of 1.200 gotta go that far back for the mags I have to feed in this gun.

This is a ton of fun I tell ya, and a hell of alot cheaper than one of those 50gi things.

Mike, 4.0 - 4.5gr. sounds about right. Like I mentioned, it's been awhile.

I also seem to recall having to seat them right to the top crimp groove in order for them to feed and chamber properly.

My Para had no problems. I never got the chance to run any through my AMT Hardballer Longslide. Hmmmm.....I feel a new project coming on.

Im glad I got that Corbin Cannelure tool. The crimp grooves get smushed when I size em.

I should be getting a redding profile crimp die here in the mail shortly.

Wasn't that Amt a 7in lol that would be a ton of fun.

Glad to see others loading heavy bullets in the 45 acp's. I have some Lee 255 grain rnfp's that I traded for a few months ago. I wanted to load them up in my Taurus PT1911.
The Speer # 12 manual shows a maximum pressue in the 45 of 21000 psi. They also show their Speer 260 grain hp loaded with 6.9 grains of Herco for 847 fps. I figured this would give me a good starting place. A couple of days ago, I loaded 7 rounds with 6.5 grains of Herco and 14 rounds with a max charge of 7 grains. I went to the range yesterday and tested the loads. To start off with, These loads were the cleanest firing loads I have ever shot in this pistol. Usually, I load either Win. 231 or HP-38, they are one in the same. Another powder I use is Hogdons Universal. I have used Unique in the past, but it was too dirty so I went to the Universal for those loads.
Anyway, The loads tested were a suprise. The recoil was brisk but not real bad. At 12.5 yards, off of bags all shots stayed in 2" but about 2" above p.o.a. At 25 yards, off of bags, all shots stayed in 4.5".
These loads would pack one hell of a punch. This would equal or best the infamous black powder Colt 45 load. This would be a great woods load and I don't know of any animal it wouldn't bring down here in Oregon, matching the range to the cartridge and shooter. I will chrony this load before too long and post it. I believe it will be traveling around 850 fps. Good loading and safe shooting to you all.
