Does anyone know if there is a musket cap nipple available for the Lyman Plains Rifle? A friend is finding that a #11 cap isn't hot enough with 777 and wants to go with a musket cap.

That's odd. I use 777 powder in my Lyman GPR and have no problems. Try the link below and scroll about 2/3 of the way down (AMPCO nipples for musket caps - order # 12-50-09). That nipple may work.

Ditto on CCI #11 magnum caps.

Maybe the passage is partially plugged in the nipple? Wouldn't be the first time...
Just a thought,

I would be very leery of the RWS caps. The metal is hard and brittle and I have picked it out of my face a few times before I gave up on them. Lots of blood! You not only need safety glasses, you need a full face shield. I like the CCI and Remington mag caps.

Never had a problem igniting Pyrodex with a CCI #11. I always pop two caps before loading a clean barrel to make sure any oil or fouling blows out.
