I don't make any for the Mosins..... yet. I have studied the m/38, m/44, m/1891, m/91-30, m/39. The m/39 will get more attention. And the m/38 has an interesting rear sight as it mounts to a band that goes around the barrel and is pinned in place to keep it indexed. There are 2 of these carbines here at the house so I've had some close up study of the m/38. I can make a real nice mount, better than any mount for the m/38, but it'll be a scratch built rotary table build and $$$$. I need to check to see if the m/44 carbine has the same rear sight mounting. It might not.

Thanks for the reply Dutch. I've read a lot of very complimentary stuff about your work. Right now I need a good mount fast. (Don't we all?)[a little joke]. What's the word on the S&K?

+1 on the Darrell's scout mount. When I was putting one on mine, the advice I received was to avoid the B-Square mounts. They apparently shoot loose. I've had no trouble with the mount on my rifle since installing it.

Where do I find Darrell's contact info? It's not coming up in a search.

no slam on dutchman( i like his design,,,but not available today) , but i'm going to try the s&k mount on my "96 swede. the hight is not a big issue as we shoot of the bench at fixed distance ( 4 power, 100 and 200 yds)

I have heard great things about Dutchmans mounts, I am hoping to get one for my Swede 96 when he makes another batch. By the way does anyone have Any experience with the burris 4x12 LER scope for scout rifle use?

Thanks

Justin

Mike, I am also a little confused as to who Darrel is and how he can be contacted

CDNN carries an inexpensive mount. If using this make sure you loc-tite the screws after sighting it in. The scope will have to be removed and one screw at a time taken out , loc-tite put on the screw and then reinserted.

Mike - nothing wrong with S&K LER mounts. Good solid mounts.

Don't know if you found you a mount or not but I have a Darrels scout mount that I used on my M/N M38 if you want to pay shipping for it you are welcomed to it. I don't want to fully commit myself to this until I find it and make sure everything is there, no missing pieces. It's here I would just have to look through some boxes to find it. I hate scout mounted scopes myself.

If one of you needs a b-square for the 96 swede. I have two that need new homes, send me a pm. I put one of Dutchman's mounts on my rifle.

J Rhoades,

I am using a fixed 4x LER on my 96. It is working well for me but mine is the regular pistol scope (as I think the one you are looking at is) and it is right on the edge as far as eye relief. The member here who sold it to me had put it on a k31 I think and he was not happy as the eye relief was too long for his application. I had a weaver 1x shotgun/rifle scope prior to the burris and the eye relief was just a bit short on it. I can just get the the full image w/ the burris, but it is setup and will make me be honest when I mount the rifle. With the S&K sight you may not have that problem. I really like the burris scopes and they are not that far down the road and customer service has been excellent.

Eye relief, that's the ticket when it comes to a scout mount. I can't say anything about the Burris scopes, don't have the money to try one. I just got a new Bushnell Trophy 2-6X and the eye relief is way out there, arms length pistol scope. A good one, is the UAG $29 3x7. They're cheap enough to be disposable, yet they work, and the best eye relief has the ocular bell slightly behind the receiver ring on my Krag that is equipped with the KragHaus mount. The UAG scopes are still evolving, those available now are improved over the one I got a couple years ago.

manleyjt, the Swede was next on my list to try a scout scope on. I'm interested for sure. $?

Recently I put a Darrell's mount on my K31 and an S&K on my M39. I've been swapping between a 2-7X32 and 4X32 LER scopes on both rifles to see which one I favor. Both mounts are quality made and I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.

Here is what I did with a $15.00 scout mount for my $25.00 91/59, worked out great and solid as a rock.
