Probably won't get much action on this post but have to ask anyway. Anyone reloading for the 45 GAP here? My dies and bullets are suppose to be arriving here today.

Thanks but I ordered some from Midway. I thought my dies and bullets and brass would be here today but won't be here until tomorrow. I have a lot of 45 ACP brass and originally thought about cutting some of it down but after doing some research and for others that don't know 45 GAP and 45 ACP brass is evidently not the same brass. More difference between the two than just the length.

I just got through casting some Lee TL452-200-SWC boolits that I plan on shooting out of my Springfield Armory Mil-Spec and my Glock 37. And yes, I am aware of the Glock and cast boolits thing. I shoot cast out of my G26 with stock barrel and have had no problems so I'm going to try them out of the G37. I never shoot very many cast boolits at a time and always clean my barrel good after every shoot. So I really don't expect any problems.

Shot my first cast through my new G37 today. Didn't do bad at all for my first time. I wanted to chronograph the rounds but it was just too wet and nasty at my regular shooting spot to do much. I only shot 10 rounds and had no problems. Got home and disassembled the pistol and checked the barrel for any leading, there was none to be found. Can't wait for it to warm up and dry my shooting spot so I can do some serious shooting and testing.

HI,
Just woundered why the 45 gap was developed?
Looks to be just a 45 acp special.

I also have a Mod 37. I use it for a carry gun with factory ammo. The only brass I have is about 80 or so cases from testing. When I get a chance I am going to load some HG68 or HG 130's. What was your test load?

To give 45ACP power in a mid size frame for those who have smaller hands.

I am using the Lee TL452-200-SWC with LLA shot as cast with 3.3 grains of clays powder. Pistol functioned fine and I suspect velocity was only in the 700's fps range. I am researching load data for the 45 GAP tonight and will try more loads. I want to conceal carry my G37 also but have not found any suitable in waist band holsters yet. What kind of holster do you use?

it aint no 45 special..its full blown 45acp in a shorter case....shorter case means you can use a shorter frame( in the grip mag area).

there were two sorta production steel framed guns when the cartridge came out....external hammers, metal frames...if i could just fine one....

what made you thing it was a 45 specail ??( it is set at the 18k that cip/europe used for 45acp, yes it is lower than the saami 21k, 38spcl is 17k, 357 mag is 35k....double, not 3 k more than 38 spcl)

Supposedly to allow 45 acp ballistics in a slightly smaller package. IMHO just an exercise in trying to put gastons name on a cartridge. With glocks introduction of a slimmer frame for the 45 acp it seems the white flag has been waved.
