Does anyone know of a flat based bullet mold for the 6.5 Carcano?

I think they are all flat based, haven't seen any bevel based or boat tailed 6.5 molds. Get one of the cruse missle molds from Midsouth and take it to a machine shop and have the GC shank milled off.

Exactly what I was going to suggest.

I am looking for a bullet that does not require a gas check. The loads that I am wanting to load are around 1800 fps, so I am trying to eliminate the need for a gas check.

Or do I have to do what swheeler and jeffinnz suggest.

The unfortunate bottom line is there are very few fat 6.5's around for the Carcano and the Cruise Missle is really about it commercially. You could have someone like Veral at LBT cut a specific mould for you.

I just picked up a Carcano recently and have a CM on the way from Midway now.

BRP has the drawings for the: Cruise Missle, Kurtz and the last GB we did for the 6.5mm "fat" molds. Tell him what you want.

I think I am going to get a Lyman 266673 150gr and have the gas check part milled out by my local machine shop.

Brian, make sure that the mould you get throws boolits big enough, the Carcanos are .268 to .269 and a .266 is going to just bounce off of the lands. Read the other Carcano thread for some insight to the problems. If Midsouth has the moulds they are cheap so you won't be out a bunch of money if you cut one down and it doesn't work, and this last batch is running .272 diameter, plenty big for even the largest bore.
