Hi all,

I bought my first lever gun a while back - the Winchester 94 Trapper in .357.

Now that I'm casting bullets, I'd like to start taking advantage of what this rifle will do.

I've had good luck with Hodgson Lil'Gun and 180GR jacketed bullets, and I was thinking about a 180-200GR cast bullet for steel plates and such.

Can I get a 200GR bullet seated with an OAL that will feed OK in this rifle?

Any suggestions for a good Lee or Lyman mould to buy in this weight? Are there any good cast hunting bullets that I can make?

Thanks,

John

There is a group going on right now for a 6 cavity Lee , 180 grain mould. You have until June 3, 06 to get your money to "357 maximum" The cost is $56.00 Look under the group buy section.

I have ordered one of the above molds for my 357 marlin, and I'll use in my Contender 357 Max also. Just can't wait.

The RCBS 200 and the Lyman 315 will both feed and funtion perfectly in my Win 357, seated to the crimp groove in 357 mag cases. The rcbs would get the nod for a hunting bullet.

Good luck

Would this bullet apply to a Rossi .357 Model 92 also?

I believe that is the firearm that Lars designed that bullet for originally.

Good luck

Congrats on your Trapper. I bought one used, and after fixing the feeding issue it is really sweet. Now I know why an old friend tried so hard to get me to buy one 20 years ago. :drinks:

I got in on the group buy and am waiting!! for it to arrive. Also have a two hole Lee, bought back when and not used yet!!

The cast 180s should be perfect for a stubby Lever, and probably in the 16" Rossi made EMF I'd like Steve Young to make for me. Unfortunately, I don't think the money will be there. :(

Cast boolits seem just right in these Leverguns...
