230FMJ at 4.6-5.4

I always thought the Jacketed bullet was a larger charge than the lead :confused:

Possibly because lead is a natural metallic lubricant as well as being lubricated with wax/grease bullet lube and jacket metal is not, hence the lead bullet will slide more freely down the barrel creating a slightly lower pressure curve. That having been said, .2 grains charge weight is pretty minimal and only matters if your are working at max loading levels.Best accuracy is seldom found at max loading anyway. Also these charges were probably arrived at in someones pressure barrel and may not give identical results in your gun. That is why we start low and work up with caution and attention to visible pressure signs. It is called working UP a load afterall

If you loaded a mag or 2 of and shot the, would 230FMJ and 230RNL both with the same charge say 5.2Gr. Would they be close to being equal or even come close to being the same.

Yes I know barrel size and final sized bullet would have lots to do with what results you end up with. For both types bullets.
So realy looking at it from a generic type load like a factory loads would be
{ie} like WWB/Fed/Rem/ect. one size fits all
