Got bored over the weekend. I had a 10" Tender barrel that someone had given me in 44 Mag. It had been ported ala drill and was shredding boolits. I decided to shorten it and make a snubbie. Primarily to be used as a belt gun/plinker. I shortened the barrel to 6 1/2" and will eventually change the rear grip to a round butt style. I was thinking of shooting 260's ahead of Trailboss.

It is cute. My brother had one of those old 8 inch octagon barreled contenders way back and I got to shoot it once. I emphasize once. I fired a full house mag in that thing with the original contender grips and my hand hurt for the next day. I stayed away from contenders for years after that.

You will get bored with that quickly.

That's cool. I have a a 357 in an octogon bbl that has the chok/porting on it that would make a great candidate for a circumcision.

Update: I just got off the phone with my friend that runs one of the local gus shops. The operation is set for Friday at 1:00 pm.

This is a 10" octagon cut back to 6", chambered in .357 magnum. She is fun at the indoor range with 17gr of 296 under a 150gr LSWC. :Fire: There's this guy who shows up to the outdoor range with .300 weatherby with a muzzle brake who will plop right down at the bench next to ya and commence to rattling the tin roof.....at one time I figured if I reamed this barrel to .357 herret and added a JP muzzle brake, I might convince him to give me some space. :)

Sweet aunt Sally's curtains that is cool. Mine has been reamed to 357Max so it should be loud enough to rattle the windows on the house.

How does it group?

Not bad, don't have any targets handy at the moment for evidence. It seems to like maximum loads best. Plinking loads tend to group like a swarm of drunk flies.

I cut down a Encore in 500 S&W for a friend of mine to get rid of the muzzle brake and he is happy as all hell now.

Took the stubby to the range today. I was shooting RD265's ahead of TrailBoss loobed with xlox. Needs a higher front sight as it shoots way too high. Accuracy at 25 yds. was about 2" and the balance of the gun was slightly butt heavy. It WAS a blast to plink with though!

I got my bbl cut down to size this last weekend. I only had time to shoot 3 or 4 rounds as it was getting dark. Maybe this weekend I can try it out some.

Thanks Stubshaft for this thread. I think I'm going to like the shorty.
