Does anyone have a good load for this boolit in .303 Brit? I have plenty of good loads for heavier boolits, but was looking for something with 129 gr boolit. I have been using this boolit to good effect with my SKS and even my FR8, now I need one for the SMLE's and No 4.

22.2gr of 4227 or equivalent ought to get you close to 2000fps. Works good in my Krag which as a capacity similar to the .303 and a .310 groove diameter bore.

Generally I prefer heavy (174-200 grain) slugs and slow burning powder (Reloder 15 or IMR4350) in my .303 British rifles. I too have been tempted with the abundance of 125 grain .310-.312 diameter slugs on the surplus market. My best load has been 32 to 40 grains of IMR3031. velocities range from about 2100 to near 3000 fps with pretty good accuracy out to 200 yards.

I have a number of good loads with heavier CB's, but I have 6 cavity 314-129SP from the Group Buy last year. I was looking for an accurate load with the .303 Brit to utilize this new boolits since I can churn these out in large quantities and they are more economical to cast. I am also looking for a load to use this boolit in 7.62X54R in my Nagants.

I dont have any 4227, but I do have a keg of 2400 and I was going to start at 16 grs and work up. I also have quite a bit of RL-7 and would like to try it also.

Not quite on topic but what weight do your cast and what alloy?

I am seriously thinking about seeing If I can get in on the latest group buy but I saw a post saying they cast at 138 gr.

I was looking for lighter at 120/125 gr. but 129 gr. wouldn't hurt my feelings. 138 gr. is getting a little heavier than I want. Even so it is tempting.

Longbow, mine weigh 130.5 gr made from 8.5 lbs WW and 1.5lbs Linotype. My mold is from the Lee group buy, but I think Swede's are made to the same dimensions. Swede's molds are a LOT Nicer. The original spec for the lee group buy was 145 IIRC, but the bullets are dropping at 130 ish.

130 gr. would certainly do me.

I think this is going to cost me some money... again!

Thanks,
