Sunday at the range I picked up 40 pieces of .45GAP brass. Using the GAP brass I loaded my favorite target boolit- the old 452389- over 3.5g HP38 & a Fed SPM for use in the S&W 625. Obviously this is a very light load- it chambers fine; OAL is .94". I'll run it over the chrony this coming Saturday.

I like the idea of a low-recoil, low consumption .45 for general plinking- as well as the idea of a .45 case that uses small pistol primers (the past 18 months showed us primer availability came and went by primer type). What other calibers/chamberings are out there that, without modification, their brass can be used in other-than-intended ways?

I picked up a flat rate box of the NT (small pistol primer) .45acp brass for just in case. A shootin pal called and was panic stricken that he had only 1 brick LP primers left and what would he do for .45? He wanted to trade some small rifle for large peestal primers. I tole him of what I had and he could borrow them if needed and load with the SR primers. He was calmed and never did take me up on it. I like being safe rather than sorry. I sized some 30-06 down to 7.62X51. Necks need reamed but work well. I was warned the extractor grooves are diferent. Well I have a Garand extractor in my M14type so all is well. ;)

I have used a lot of 7.63 mauser brass in my 7.62 tok pistols, light loads only. Have also used 32s&w & 32-20 in the nagant revolver,, doesn't always work well. I also tried 307 win in a mosin nagant once........ WON'T do it again. Brass didn't split but it should have.

Off lable use ? You mean like starting off with a 444 Marlin and shooting it as a brass 410 . Running a 460 S&W up in a 44 mag die for a 45/410 case then use it up all the way down to a 45GAP rimmed, same thing with formed 303 down to Shofields or so.

9.3x74r is great 45/410 brass.
38 Super will work in 9mm Largo (not loaded to super pressures of course).
360 DW will work in most 357 Mag Handi Rifles.
284 Winchester Makes Nice 7.5x55 Brass
30-06 can be easily formed to 7 or 8 mm mauser

there is a whole list (provided by Molly) of case conversions on Castpics.

Really?! I have a .40 S&W barrel and 3 mags for my Delta Elite. I never would have tried that...

Count me +1 for 30-06 > 8mm mauser.
Almost all 8x57 here is usually either $ old milsurp or $$$ brand name.
Old milsurp is *always* Berdamn primed. Yes I've done the conversion on a few boxes' worth, and it left me wondering every time. Especially the shotgun primer method.
But for some reason I'll goto the range, and find a lot of remington 30-06 brass.
Cut, size, trim, anneal- once per round- then it's really good stuff.
Now if I can just find cheap primers and powder ...
