Big horn Armory just came out with a 500S&W lever action. I checked out there web sight and it will come in carbine and rifle conferations. I've been waiting on Wild West Guns to come out with one and even got up with S&W to see if they were going to come out with one. It's bound to be a good seller if they keep the price down. It'd make a great woods gun for deer and hog here in Al or even a good gun for those critters with teeth. Just need to wait for some reviews on it now and a price rainge.

Is this going to be a completely new action design? I dont see them putting a 60,000 psi fat cartridge on a Marlin.
Jim west does it with the Marlin converting them to 50 Ak but the 50 Ak is not a factory loaded cartridge or nearly that high a pressure.
Even the new breed of Browning/Win 86's are still limited to normal lever pressures in the area of 40,000 psi.
Interesting!

Not sure how a MSRP of 1889 rates in "if they keep the price down".

Definitely too rich for me.

The Rifle is $1,889.oo of which I think very few people will get one and with the weight of the rifle you could get 3 Marlin 1895GS's in 45-70 or 450 Marlin and still be a lighter gun and less costly to shoot.

Or heck you could get 1 Winchester 1886 in 45-70 and use the rest of the funds to purchase everything needed to load for it lol. :)

Interesting!
I love the caliber, owning one of the Smiths. Here's a photo of the new Big Horn ---

So I'm guessing the Model 89 is midway in size between the 86 and 92 Winchester's? Not a bad looking rifle, but I didn't really like curve of the the pistol grip.

$2000.00+ by the time it gets to you is a little rich for my blood. It would be a thumper though.

I've posted several times about my wanting a 50 lever gun. I'm with you on the 60,000 psi rounds Bullshop. I think 50 Action Express could be doable. I like the Idea it's rebated rim is the same size as the 44 mag. rim. The 50 A E power level would be better suited to my needs than the 500 smith. When all is said and done a repoduction winchester 86 in 50-70 would do the same job. We've been there done that about 125 years ago.

I don't like it. A lever gun needs to have a strait grip

Will someone explain to me why a Sharps replica by one of the big names would be worth the $ but a new lever gun would not?
I know a few fellows here have built 50 cal lever guns and they know what it cost.
For example if you can find a beater original 86 or 71 Win you are looking at about 600 to 700 bucks. McCowen gets about 800 for a conversion and add any other beads and trinkets and there ya go about the same $.
If its quality made I think the price is ball park. Anyway suggested retail always seems to be higher than we can actually find them for.
I just contacted them to inquire about a dealership. Lets see what happens.
