Hi all, is it possible to swage 40 S&W to .451-.452 , to make 225-230gr bullets?? I have a set of m dies and press from Corbin .452 acp TC , I have his books and after reading them I am more than a little confused:?. thank you in advance.

I would try and find some of the SKS brass. I think its rim dia was pretty close. 7.62x39 I think. Only one way to find out with the 40 S&W.

The upper half of a 6.5 x 55 can be used for a 45 cal bullet, and the lower half can be used for a 45 cal casing, it just need to be reamed and expanded 0.016"
It will be perfect for a 45 super, or a 38 casull
and maybe the 460 rowland

It may pain you to do so but I have taken a few of the 45 acp cases and easly sized them down to .458 for upcoming 45-70 jackets. It may defeet the purpose of using the same shell for a jacket that you plan to shoot with. It would just deplete your avialable cases to reload. I am sure though that it would be a good one to use as I have see threads on this topic here before.

I still think the SKS (7.62x39) case may be the way to go if you can find some made of brass. The rim is .447 and could easly be bumped up to .452. I bet it may be pretty close to the core seating die diameter allready. Jacket needs to be a few thou smaller to start with anyway.

Good shooting

Yes, I do it all the time. Just be sure that you anneal the cases so they expand evenly and as an added step, once you have the core seated, you can turn the rim off so the end of the bullet will be smooth and you won't have a turbulance generating groove at the base end affecting your accuracy.
