I was planning on seeing if I can make a GC maker after the Holidays. Those of you that have other MAKERS, would someone give me the size of the punched out disks for 22 Cal, 30 cal and 357? I would think that would be the first step in getting one to work. Thanks Martin

I used to order punch and dies for my work. The die should be the diameter of what you want to get out. The punch should be slightly undersized to allow clearance. The amount of clearance should be based on the kind and thickness of material being used. Most of the punches and dies I ordered had around a .010" clearance or a little more.

If I wanted the scrap to kick out at .500" I would order the die that size and then get a .490" punch to go with it.

Martin, the only ones I've made were .30 cals. I punched a 3/8" disc and a 9/32" punch to form the cup...Ray

My 30 cal blanks are .407 and they form a chex that is .315 OD .282 ID and slightly taller than a Hornady check. Just remember that in the process of forming metal be it copper, brass, alum ect. you will get stretch in the material.
