Hmmm,
I found online a guy who used 12-14gr of unique with a 255gr in an 8x56R.

Another guy is using 13gr of Unique with a 150gr in a .30-06

Yet another is using 13.0gr of Unique with a 160gr in a .303

So I'm guesstimating here, if I drop down to about 8-10gr of Unique with a lee 170gr in my 8x57 and work up, I should be okay?

Based upon that info, go with 12 grains 7625 for starters, and hover around that area until you get good ignition. Try various primers at the same loading(s) and seating depth to hone it down pat. ... felix

..............One of our Burrito Shooters uses 10.0grs of Unique under a 160gr slug in his 8x57. It works well at 50 yards, but just makes a kind of POP! We kid him about his slug maybe just bouncing off the cardboard target backer, and tell him it has to make a real hole you can see daylight through, and that dimples in the paper don't count!

I've used SR7625 haveing been given a pound of the stuff and found it just like a cleaner burning Unique. As Felix mentioned it being faster, I think they are pretty dang close.
