since the 7.62x54r/53r ammo is a rimmed cartridge, most ammo boxes do not store them well. stuff for the right length, has too little rim space and the rims stack on each other.

midway 50 rd 30'06/270 (frankford arsenal) boxes are a little bigger and the rims do not stack.

it is box 510, multiple colors

Dillon also has blue plastic boxes for them.

Try the box for a .375 H&H Mag. Frankford Arsenal box #511

I'm able to store .30-40 Krag rounds boolit up. Should work for 7.62x54 Russian. Might be a tad tall, put in a piece of sheet styrofoam.

My bulk storage is .50 cal. ammo cans with the ammo dumped in and the lid snapped shut.

i dont do plinking..i compete with match ammo...goes in nice neat boxes labled by rifle and as cast or jacketed.

sorry i missed something...why go to the 511...the 510 works ??

does the dillon work without the rims hanging up ? thought they had berry's...too small.

I saved all the card board boxes from the spam cans. The ones that open form both ends. I also use the 50 rd 22-250 / 308 flip top boxes from MTM. The rims don't conflict enough to be a bother to me. They need to be stored nose down though. But I don't mind that either.

I use MTM's 100 round Large boxes as well as their 50 rnd 30-06 boxes. No problems with storage. I had to make a wooden loading block for them though as the rims are too large for my RCBS and my MTM loading blocks.

But a drill, woodbit and two pieces of board later and I had a 50 round loading block for free. Of course it is only used for loading 7.62x54R so it only gets used around once or twce a year. The rest of the time it sits on a shelf.

I use the MTM H50 series 50 round boxes, the ones with the handle on the lid, they allow
rimmed rounds to be stored boolit up.
