I have a CZ527 and my load for the NEI 55 grain is 11.0 grains of 4198 and it shoots into 1/2 inch or less at 100 yards.

Bev shot a 12" contender for 2 years with the RCBS version of that boolit. 4.5 grs. 231, 1640 fps. 1 1/4 to 1 1/2 " at 100. Never lost a ram. cheap to shoot.

Mugs,
any filler or "buffer" with the 4.5 231 ??
you sure you don't want a multi cavity 7 MM mold ?? :bigsmyl2:

7/10ths of a grain of unique, wsr primer, bator boolit. near silent, and 1"@35 yards. it will go clean thru a woodchuck at 40 yards. :)

No filler. Its the same load I was using for my 30 carb. 30-115 FP load. Never found it to be position sensitive. Small rifle primer.

Is that a full case of 4198?
Got a velocity reading on that?
Where did you get the data?

I might want to try this one! [smilie=s:

It's almost a full case. There's not much space between the base of the bullet and the powder.. I'll have to check on the velocity.

I might want to try this one also:bigsmyl2:
Do you just "throw" these loads ?? or trickle ?? 4198 tends to "crunch" when thrown and will vary .3 + - gns.

My Ruger 7722Hornet (14 twist) is shooting 225462 GC with an 11 gn charge of H4198 into about a 3" group at 100 yds. It puts Hornady 55gn JHP into an inch at the same distance with the same charge. I may need a shorter boolit for that gun but I'm still going to try to get the long one to shoot.

My "standard" load for years in a 10" Contender was a slightly compressed charge of IMR4227...don't remember exact weight and don't have my old reloading log handy...under a 40 gr Sierra JSP. With a Leupold 2.5X LER mounted, would consistently keep 5 shots inside 1 1/2" @ 100M. Try filling a case completely with 4227, weigh the charge, then back off 15% as a starting load for CBs.

4198 runs fine through my Belding & Mull. [smilie=s:

my best load so far in my cz527 is the old 225415 with 7 grains of h110 and cci400 primer.

I was always inclined to seat bullets close to the leade. Especially cast bullets. For some reason, the Hornet in my Ruger #3 strongly prefers to be deep seated. That is with 225415/Hornady gc/alox. I guess the old saw about every rifle being different is still true.
