I know this can vary, but I don't think it should vary by much (45LC), but I would really like to know what diameter you guys have been getting from this mold.
Please say what mix you used such as WW or whatever.

I think I answered this in another tread you posted, but I just can't remember for sure so since you asked specifically in this thread............

.455-.456 for the RCBS 45-255-SWC using WW alloy

There are three differnt 255 rcbs swcs. If your refering to the most recent variation mine drops about 454- 455 the original drops 454. I have never measured the middle one as ive only casted a few with my buddys mold. the original version is hands down the best shooting design of the three. Good luck finding one though.

Mine was cut wrong at the factory, and they asked for it back, but I like the one I have. I'm all out of "as cast" bullets from that mold right now, but I know that mine takes top punch #638, the same as the mold for the 476 - 400 gr. bullet.

Hi Tom. This is the RCBS 255-SWC # 82050 Top punch is # 424 I believe. Of course I could be wrong. I just don't have the time right now to check with RCBS.

Yup, that what it says on the box. 082050, with top punch # 424. However, when I used the listed top punch it didn't work and left a very bad ring on the nose. I took some pictures of the bullet along with some measurements and e-mailed them to RCBS. That's when they discovered that they had a LOT of molds that were miscut. The mold that I have looks like a .45 Caliber version of my 082094 which is a 476-400 swc, and both use the same top punch, # 638.

It doesn't look like a "textbook" SWC at all!

thats not what im after. I have one of each off all the designs rcbs made except that one. Just wanted to mold to say i had them all
I do not have any specs other than what can be derived by measuring the bullet !

Lloyd may be able to help you !

If you have a design you would like to have made for yourself I would suggest you contact Bruce at BRP and discuss having a cherry made to your own specs. He has made custom designs for several of us here !

Dear Glenn;
Please do not get your panties in a knot over someone who has,and never will have any idea what we have done for many years with our sixguns. I have tried to help some of these guys with my experiences after 40 years of messing with the 45 Colt and, of course I have been told I am wrong. I refuse to get in a peeing contest with anybody when experience speaks volumes, not theory or "I read in a book". Just keep doing what you are doing, Lloyd and I really love your writings about your experiences.

Oh, I just came back from www.lasc.com and read the new Himmelwright article. I did not find any sarcasm in it but maybe I missed it. I do have box of those strange looking wadcutters in 45 caliber. I think the old guy I got the bullets from still has it. I need to call and wish him a Merry Christmas.
